01Does a Vanuatu passport provide visa-free entry to the UK or Schengen area?
Current rules require the relevant visas for travel to the UK and Schengen area. The appropriate visa, transit and entry conditions depend on the trip, route and any existing immigration permissions.
02Will citizenship change my tax obligations in China or New Zealand?
A passport does not automatically change tax residency or the source of income. If you continue to live or operate a business in another country, its tax rules may still apply to you and your company.
03What should Chinese nationals consider?
China does not recognise dual nationality for Chinese citizens. A Chinese citizen settled abroad who voluntarily acquires another nationality may lose Chinese nationality under Article 9 of the Nationality Law. Individual circumstances should be reviewed before applying.
04Can my spouse and children apply with me?
Family members who meet the applicable programme requirements may be included under the relevant categories. Their ages and relationships are sufficient for an initial discussion; supporting documents follow later.
05Will I need to travel to Vanuatu?
Application, oath-taking and passport attendance requirements should be checked separately. The proposed arrangements will identify any stage requiring your personal attendance.
06How does an application progress?
The process starts with an initial discussion and route assessment, followed by engagement, documents, background checks and submission. Further checks or documents may be requested, and processing times depend on the actual review.
07Who makes the approval decision?
The responsible Vanuatu authorities decide applications. A consultant coordinates the agreed preparation and process but cannot make an approval decision on the government’s behalf.
08What do I need for an initial enquiry?
Tell us your family size, existing nationality or residence status, intended timing and priorities. You do not need to send passport scans or bank statements at this stage.
09How can I understand the total cost?
Once the route, family members and services are established, review an itemised written quotation, payment milestones and refund terms. This website does not collect application payments.
10What types of documents are usually needed?
Common categories include identity documents, police clearances, a CV, medical information, family records and financial supporting documents. A specific checklist depends on the route and your circumstances.
11Must I acquire citizenship to benefit from the local tax framework?
Not necessarily. The tax framework is not exclusive to citizenship applicants. Residence, business activity and tax treatment should be considered separately from nationality.
12Can a child immediately apply to a Chinese university as an international student?
Eligibility needs a separate review. Certain applicants must satisfy nationality holding periods, actual overseas residence and institution-specific requirements; a newly issued passport alone does not establish eligibility.
13Do I need a language test, academic qualification or interview?
Earlier programme materials describe a streamlined route without a standard language or education examination. Identity checks, interviews or additional assessments may still be required under the rules in force.
14Must I move to Vanuatu or live there for several years?
The investment citizenship route differs from ordinary naturalisation that requires long-term residence. Long-term settlement is generally not a precondition of the investment route, but oath, identity and document steps may still require attendance.
15Can adult children or parents be included?
Earlier DSP rules address eligible dependent students aged 18–25 and qualifying dependent parents. Family relationships, dependency, age and current requirements must be assessed individually.
16What financial documents should I prepare?
Our historical checklist includes an asset statement, employment or income evidence, bank confirmation and recent bank statements, potentially covering six months. The exact documents depend on current due diligence requirements.
17What about police clearance, medical checks and due diligence?
Identity documents, police certificates, personal history, medical records and certified translations may be requested. Vanuatu’s FIU updated its due diligence requirements in 2025, so check the latest list.
18How are fees paid, and what happens if an application is refused?
Earlier arrangements used stages for background checks and subsequent application work. Refunding government charges, due diligence fees or service fees depends on the current written quotation and contract, not historical brochure figures.
19Can I complete the oath or collect documents in Hong Kong or overseas?
Historic programme materials mentioned Hong Kong collection, but current oath, identity verification and passport collection arrangements must be checked separately. Overseas collection is not guaranteed.
20Does Vanuatu permit dual citizenship?
Vanuatu recognises dual nationality in applicable circumstances, but retaining your original nationality depends on your country’s law. Rules for Chinese, Indian and Japanese nationals differ.
21Where can I verify Cosmo Consultancy Vanuatu's public listing?
The Vanuatu Citizenship Office publicly lists Cosmo Consultancy Vanuatu with Johnny Lam as a contact. Its page also refers to new contracts for 2026, so an existing listing should not be treated as proof of completed renewal.
22How can a Vanuatu passport be renewed when overseas?
The Vanuatu Immigration and Passport Department publishes renewal and overseas application guidance. Check the latest form, location and documentation rules before applying.
23Is the US$6,400 screening fee charged on top of the package price?
No. After successful clearance, the US$6,400 already paid is credited toward the agreed total rather than charged again.
24Can I recover the screening fee if I do not pass?
Cosmo's current process document states that the US$6,400 screening charge is non-refundable if clearance fails; the signed engagement governs your case.
25How do the 25% and 75% instalments work?
After clearance, complete the first 25% of the agreed total, taking the US$6,400 already paid into account; the remaining 75% is due after the relevant approval letter.
26Are translation and notary costs included?
Any required third-party costs, including translation, notarisation, medical reports, certification and delivery, are identified in your written quote.
27Is the US$400,000 residence investment requirement an application fee?
No. It is documentary proof for a separate residence scheme, not Cosmo's DSP citizenship fee.
28Is biometric enrolment in person required?
Current passport procedures involve attendance in person for biometric enrolment. Confirm each family member’s requirements, location and appointment before travelling.
29Will overseas fingerprint enrolment cost extra?
Possibly. Enrolment in Vanuatu that is included in an agreed package normally has no overseas service fee; overseas or special-location arrangements may have additional per-person charges, confirmed in writing.
30Can I enquire if my circumstances are unusual?
Yes. Tell our team about incomplete documents, family circumstances or prior records that need explanation. We can assess whether a lawful application may be feasible. Disclose information accurately; we cannot promise approval, conceal facts or bypass legal, banking or due-diligence requirements.
31Does a Vanuatu passport grant visa-free access to the Schengen Area?
No. The EU removed the visa exemption for Vanuatu nationals in December 2024.
32Will obtaining Vanuatu citizenship automatically change my tax residence?
No. Tax residence depends on relevant domestic rules, physical presence and business facts, not just citizenship.
33Does a Vanuatu PR visa come with a passport?
No. Permanent residence is immigration status, not citizenship; DSP citizenship is a separate route.
34Can permanent residents work or operate a business?
It depends on the visa. The eVisa Permanent Residency Visa restricts employment and commercial activities; investor categories differ.
35Is every permanent-residency visa indefinite?
No. The eVisa permanent-residency product is up to 10 years. The separate Permanent Investor Visa is listed as indefinite.
36Does US$400,000 in assets guarantee eligibility?
No. This comes from Cosmo's 2026 working checklist and is not confirmed as a universal official threshold.
37Can a family of four apply?
The internal checklist lists parents and two children under 18; official eligibility and fees depend on the exact visa.
38When are fees paid?
First verify the visa category, government costs, contracting entity, written quotation and refund conditions.
